abstract = "Wildfires represent a major disturbance factor leading to
environmental changes with local or regional impacts. In the
Amazon, although fire is associated with several land-practices,
the long dry season in some regions, especially during extreme
droughts. This study aims to evaluate the relationship between
fire and land use and land cover changes in the southwestern
region of Par{\'a}. The images used were acquired from OLI and
LISS-III sensor to map the scars of fires and the deforestation
data were obtained from PRODES/INPE project. Visually itīs
possible to see the similarity of the spatial configuration
between the fire and deforestation. The burned area observed
predominated in deforested areas prior to 2010, labeled as old
deforestation. Land use and land cover data obtained from
TerraClass was used in this analysis showing that the use of fire
is often associated to secondary vegetation removal for pasture
                         stablishment and management.",
